Mass and mechanical rental: what to check when it arrives

  • Return a click-type torque wrench to its lowest setting after use. Storing it under spring load makes it drift.
  • Exercise a click wrench a few times at the set torque before the first use of the day.
  • Stay within a force gauge's capacity. Overloading the load cell can shift its zero permanently.
  • Zero a pressure gauge at atmospheric pressure and keep it within its range. Overpressure shifts the zero.

What calibration comes with the rental?

Every rental ships with a current calibration certificate from a Techmaster laboratory. Check that its due date covers your last day of testing and that it covers the ranges you will use.

Torque is on the ANAB ISO/IEC 17025 scope at all four accredited labs (to 1,000 lbf·ft at San Antonio), force to 100,000 lbf at Santa Clara, and pressure from −12 psi to 10,000 psi (15,000 psi at San Antonio). For scales and balances, tell us the capacity and class and we confirm whether the certificate is accredited or NIST-traceable. Yes. Crimp tools are among the mechanical items we calibrate most often. Send the make, model and the terminals or dies you use, and we confirm the checks and the certificate level with the quote.
