We repair instruments from Keysight (formerly Agilent), Tektronix, Fluke, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu and other manufacturers, including older and discontinued models where parts are available. Techmaster is an independent laboratory and is not affiliated with these manufacturers.
How does a test equipment repair work?
- Tell us the fault. Send the make, model and serial number, what the instrument does or does not do, and any error codes.
- Evaluation and quote. We diagnose the fault and send a quote with the expected timeline and warranty terms for your approval.
- Repair. The fault is repaired at component or module level, depending on the instrument and parts availability.
- Calibration. The repaired instrument is calibrated, and you receive the certificate with as-found and as-left data.
- Return. The instrument ships back to you, or we deliver it locally in Southern California, Silicon Valley or the Orlando area.
What calibration comes after a repair?
A repair can change how an instrument measures, so a repaired unit is calibrated before it goes back. The certificate is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited where the parameters are on our ANAB scope, and NIST-traceable where they are not. Accredited vs NIST-traceable calibration explains the difference.
RF and microwave calibration is accredited at Vista, Santa Clara and Orlando, not San Antonio. Particle counters are not on the ANAB scope at any Techmaster lab, and Techmaster does not calibrate them. Patient simulators and optical radiometers are not on the ANAB scope at any Techmaster lab either and are certified NIST-traceable.
Is it worth repairing, or should you replace it?
Repair usually makes sense when the instrument still meets your specification, the fault is isolated and parts are available. Replacing makes more sense when the manufacturer has stopped supplying parts, the repair costs a large share of a new unit, or the instrument no longer meets your requirements. If you need to keep testing while your instrument is away, you can rent calibrated test equipment for the repair period.
Where are repairs done?
Repairs are handled through our laboratories in Vista and Santa Clara, California, Orlando, Florida and San Antonio, Texas. Free local pickup and delivery is available in Southern California, Silicon Valley and the Orlando area; elsewhere, instruments ship to the lab.
