RF Test Equipment Rental & Sales

Techmaster rents and sells calibrated RF and microwave test equipment: network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters and sensors, and cable and antenna analyzers. Each rental goes out with a current calibration certificate; RF and microwave calibration to 50 GHz is on our ANAB ISO/IEC 17025 scope at the Vista, Santa Clara and Orlando labs.

RF and microwave rental: what to check when it arrives

  • Match the connector type and gender on every port to your setup. Type-N, 3.5 mm, 2.92 mm and 2.4 mm are not interchangeable, and an extra adapter adds loss and wears the port.
  • Tighten connectors with a torque wrench at the specified torque, typically 8 in·lb for 3.5 mm and 2.92 mm and 12 in·lb for Type-N.
  • Zero a power sensor and calibrate it against the meter's reference before the first measurement, and again when its temperature changes.
  • Keep input power below the analyzer's damage level. Overpowering the input mixer is the most common reason a spectrum analyzer comes back for repair.

What calibration comes with the rental?

Every rental ships with a current calibration certificate from a Techmaster laboratory. Check that its due date covers your last day of testing and that it covers the ranges you will use.

RF and microwave calibration is on Techmaster’s ANAB ISO/IEC 17025 scope at the Vista, Santa Clara and Orlando laboratories, including power sensor cal factors and SSB phase noise to 50 GHz and noise figure to 26.5 GHz. It is not performed at San Antonio. Exact ranges and uncertainties are on our published accreditation scope.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rent a signal generator or network analyzer?
Yes. Send the frequency range, output or port requirements and connector type you need, with your dates, and we confirm availability and terms.
Is the calibration on an RF rental accredited?
RF and microwave calibration to 50 GHz is on Techmaster's ANAB ISO/IEC 17025 scope at Vista, Santa Clara and Orlando, so rentals within those parameters can ship with an accredited certificate. Tell us the certificate level you need before the instrument ships.
Can a rented power sensor work with my own power meter?
Usually, if the sensor family is compatible with your meter. Each sensor carries its own calibration factors, stored in the sensor or listed on its certificate. Tell us your meter model and we confirm compatibility before the sensor ships.
What frequency range should I ask for in an RF rental?
Ask for the highest frequency you must measure, including any harmonics you need to see. Checking the second harmonic of a 6 GHz signal needs 12 GHz or more. Tell us the connector types and the dynamic range you need as well.
How do I rent from Techmaster?
Send the model or the specification it must meet, your start date, the last day you need it and the certificate level you need. We confirm availability and terms, then ship the instrument with its certificate or deliver it locally in Southern California, Silicon Valley or the Orlando area.
